Thread count measures how many threads are woven into one square inch of fabric. The higher the number, the softer and denser the feel, from light and crisp (200–400) to smooth and luxurious (600–800) to truly opulent (1000+). Weave also plays a role: sateen feels silky and smooth, while percale is crisp, cool, and breathable.
That said, our founder Pamela Opie always reminds us that thread count is just one part of the picture. The type of cotton, how the fabric is woven, how it is finished, and where it is made all come together to create the quality you feel when you climb into bed.
