Celebrating Hag Al Laila

Celebrating Hag Al Laila

, by Veni Laina, 1 min reading time

Hag Al Laila is a cherished tradition in the UAE, celebrated on the 15th night of Sha’ban, marking the midpoint of the Islamic month before Ramadan.

Children dress up in traditional costumes and go from door to door, singing songs. They carry colourful bags to collect treats like sweets, nuts, and even small gifts. The children often sing the famous phrase “Atoona Hag Al Laila”, meaning "Give us something for Hag Al Laila."

Though Hag Al Laila is often seen through the eyes of children, the celebration is for everyone. It brings families together, encourages the spirit of giving, and teaches the younger generation the values of gratitude and community.

This year, Linen Obsession had the pleasure of celebrating this joyful occasion at our Reem Mall Abu Dhabi store, bringing smiles to both kids and adults as we handed out boxes of candy and special in-store offers.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, you made this celebration even more special!
