All our Christy duvets and pillows are made in the UK or Denmark, which guarantees a good quality product.
A guide to filling for Duvets and Pillows
Hollowfibre and Microfibre is made from polyester, which is derived from oil-based products. Microfibre is made from very fine polyester, creating a soft and lightweight filling. Hollowfibre is an affordable fibre with a hollow core, hence its name. This hollow core traps air creating a warmer duvet. It is non-allergenic and washable. These fibres have been developed to high quality to provide much finer and softer fibres. Polyester fibres can be made into clusters or balls creating a synthetic version of down.
All of our natural fillings are sourced from the UK and Europe. The feathers and down are a by-product of the food industry and therefore are not farmed for their feathers alone. Great care is taken to ensure all the suppliers are checked and audited regularly.
Feather is heavier in weight than down, creating a more supportive pillow or a heavier weight duvet.
Down comes from the underside or breast of the bird and is the lightest natural filling. The down is a fluffy cluster, allowing for more air to be trapped. This creates a warm filling, which is lighter and fluffier than feather, as it doesn’t contain the quill (or stick) of the feather. The higher the down content, the lighter the duvet will be, it will feel luxurious and provide more warmth with less weight.
Feather and Down duvets are made with a "cassette" or "box" construction. This allows for even distribution of the filling and ensures there are no cold spots. Always shake the duvet when you make the bed to maintain the plumpness of the feathers.
Goose is considered more premium than Duck because the larger bird provides larger feathers and down.
Hungarian Goose is considered the most luxurious, as they come from colder climates so they produce larger feathers and down, providing superior warmth and softness.
A guide to covers
Polyester Microfibre covers contain very fine fibres which create a "peached" or soft finish, they are also more breathable than customers think.
Cotton is a natural, breathable material, which allows moisture to be wicked away from the body, ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep. Our duvet covers start at 230 thread count, which stops feathers and down from penetrating the surface and ensuring a longer lasting product. Our more premium products are covered in 300 thread count jacquard, which provides a very sumptuous cover.
What does TOG mean to you?
Tog is not a scientific term, it is an industry guide as to how much warmth the duvet provides. The higher the rating the warmer the tog.
So as a guide, 4.5 tog is perfect for Summer, 10.5 tog would be a good all year round duvet and a 13.5 tog would be great in the winter.
How to wash & care for your duvet & pillow
Most pillows and duvets can be washed at home, however it does depend on the size of the item in comparison to the size of your home washing machine. We would suggest that larger or high tog duvets are professionally cleaned in a commercial machine.
If you choose to wash your pillow or duvet at home, we suggest you dry them in a tumble dryer to ensure the filling has no residual moisture left. Tumble dryer balls or a clean tennis ball cut in half, can be placed in the dryer, as well to ensure there are no lumps or bumps left in your duvet.

When to replace your pillow
Pillows generally need replacing more often than duvets, due to the added weight of your head and neck they must support. Your pillow needs replacing if:
- The polyester filling or foam is lumpy or bumpy
- The feather or down pillow needs to be shaken vigorously to regain shape and has lost some of the firmness and support.
- If you fold the pillow in half does it remain folded ? A good supportive pillow should bounce back to its original position.
